Laywine’s mission

Since 1987, we have been devoted to finding and selling the best in pens, agendas, organizers and paper products. Simply put, we love paper: for us it is the thrill of pen and ink on paper, the joy of receiving a letter, or the simple beauty of a paper diary.

At Laywine’s, we have a philosophy of retail. We won’t sell you anything that isn’t right for you. We know pens, and we know organizers and agendas. We know what is out there and we strive to have the ‘best in class’. We are specialists, and we will remain that way.

It hasn’t escaped my attention that there has been a huge change in the technology of organizational tools. But there are reasons why we don’t sell ‘palm pilots’ at Laywine’s.

Technology has its limitations. Every week, we get a handful of people coming in to the store telling us why they have abandoned their PDA’s and want to come back to paper. Mostly it is because their brains work better with paper. Others feel vulnerable, knowing their information is somewhere in the ether…

…We prefer the personal, the concrete, the organic nature of correspondence or note taking with pen ink and paper.
